New headphones use special forces technology to transmit sound direct through your cheek to your inner ear

When Beethoven went deaf, he discovered he could still ‘hear’ his piano by biting on a metal rod attached to it, which transmitted vibrations.

The same idea is used in new ‘Aftershokz’ headphones set to be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week – using a technology often employed by special forces.

The ‘bone conduction’ headphones – designed for exercise – transmit vibrations through your cheek to the inner ear.
